Icarus is so relentlessly upsetting (!) but beneath the hand-wringing anxiety of helplessly witnessing an entirely preventable end ... is the wisdom of balance (flying neither too high to the sun nor too low to the water) and a call to mindfulness, to stay awake and remember what one already knows.
I love my conversations with Dream Dad - in part because they are so ordinary, as if we are just continuing conversations we started before he died. Completely different to the haunted nightmares when Dream Mom comes calling…
