Congrats. I went back to school late in life and after a BA and and MA--and consider that decision one of the best I ever made!

I quit school two weeks before my A Level finals (Gr 12 equiv) to 'run away' to Paris for six months, and never made it back to school. Don't really regret the paths I took, but envy this new opportunity opening up for you and admire your willingness to take on new challenges.

Thanks for this - it fees really exciting, if daunting. I'll take it one page at a time :) One day when we are in the same part of the world we should have a café au lait and compare Paris notes - have you spent time there again? Re. this program... you should apply for next year... it would be amazing to be at school with you. I love how you think, your ideas, the things you are curious about...

You’re right! The good stretch of the daily share yields stuff I don’t think you would get to if there wasn’t the instructional pressure to post.

And THANKS for the kind comments (and likes and shares) it all makes a difference. I’m really enjoying learning how to use Procreate, that default video feature is such a bonus. If you have an IPad Nikki, it’s so worth the $10 to get Procreate…

Several months ago I played around a bit with Dad's iPad and Procreate - and will definitely do more of that. I barely scratched the surface of what's possible - pretty cool technology :) A notebook and pen/pencil is a little sturdier when I'm out and about...

Wow and congrats, Nikki. I went back to school later and quite loved it. Except for the fact that I was writing position papers that I would normally have been paid big bucks for. Enjoy, enjoy! What faculty? (I clearly haven't read through the whole post if you mentioned it there.)

Oh my goodness!

CONGRATULATIONS

So exciting. WELL DONE!

Love this review post...

And YES I think it does change how we make art if we post whilst doing. I think it can be a really good way to stretch yourself and to get over jitters about sharing - the flip side is, I think that driver to always be posting can take the focus off the art... I’ve found sometimes I’m making stuff to post without it necessarily immediately connecting to the ongoing project... But, maybe that’s not a bad thing... 🤷🏻‍♀️ who knows?!

Thank you! Yes, the posting bit is definitely a double-edged sword. So far, though, I think the benefits (accountability, getting over my squeamishness about sharing, forcing myself to try new things, and even the strange stuff that sometimes comes out when I'm too tired to work on the main project) are outweighing the downside. I love your video clips of your works coming to life, btw - really cool to see the process in action.

Thank you - this feels pretty momentous. Won’t lie - I’m a little stressed at the prospect of going back after so long but hope the anxiety recedes a bit once I get rolling.

I'll have a choice between a final project or additional coursework... but, at this point, I have no idea what that might look like. Fortunately, I have lots of time to decide. It's a part-time program, so nothing needs to happen quickly.

At this point I'm thinking the general focus will be on integrating text and image in storytelling - but, that could change. I think I'd like to get at least the first general semester reading done before I start narrowing in on any one topic...
