Two things - before you ask, there is no good reason why Mom's hand in that first picture looks like she has a sock puppet... And, if you are curious - I'd probably still answer ten. That was a really great year for me - at least until someone started asking questions that made me wonder whether I was insane to be content.

I don’t know why I’ve wondered this from time to time, though people do ask this question randomly, in friend conversations. Previously, I’ve chosen whatever age I am at the time of the questioning, because acceptance is the answer; I can’t really change the age I am at the moment! Having said that... One of my favorite times of life is when I was in my early 20s and went to work for my favorite pop music magazine. This was in the magical 1980, when music was GREAT, clubs were fun, I had zero responsibility, and I had a blast. However, I didn’t have my husband, so I wouldn’t go back in time. But I am doing my graphic novel about this time, so there you go! Great question, and I’m glad you stuck to your answer. Also, great storytelling via comics; your sequential work is really good 👍

Couldn't agree more that acceptance makes 'the age I am now' to be the only answer that really makes sense. I can see how your stint at the music mag must have been amazing. Oh, those days before we had responsibilities! What a great idea to focus on this period for your graphic novel :) I CAN'T WAIT to get my copy!! And, thank you for the encouragement re. the sequencing... I'm trying hard to find the illustratable beats in the myriad small stories that make up a day/week/month/life. Definitely a work in progress :)
