Thank you so much for your kind words- I had forgotten I had posted the poem. Re-reading it just now transported me back to that time, the grief so fresh. Thank goodness time eases the intensity…
Funny, I was thinking of you today as I hiked up a rocky trail at Mt. Doug. I thought of you rock climbing and was like, she's got balls man!! I could never imagine rock climbing, hiking a rocky trail was enough for me!
You should come visit and give it a try! Nothing like a harness and rope to give you courage :) Honestly - you are one to talk - piloting a thousand plus pounds of feisty horseflesh over jumps higher than your head! Now THAT is terrifying :)
Nikki- This is beautiful and wrenching. A timeless tale. Especially when you said “the nothingness of our days.” Thank you

Thanks for sharing such a moving piece. It must've been an experience to be part of each other's life.
Deer energy is PURE LOVE!
Right!?
I love your poem, Nikki.
Thanks Kathi :)
Nice...:) I can hear your dad's voice as I read the words:)
Definitely felt like he was looking over my shoulder/continuing our conversation today...
