I don't see why you couldn't use this for a canvas. I used a very simple tripod to hold the phone, one of those sturdy gorilla pods with bendy legs. I'm still figuring out the limits and possibilities of the app. If you try it on something bigger, let me know how it goes. It takes a bit of getting used to as you are looking at the image on the phone while drawing on the page (or canvas).
