[Note: This was written on Friday, the last time I thought I would have enough of a connection to possibly upload anything before disconnecting and camping in an area with basically no cell service… Though that does mean this is all a little out of date, let me say that after the initial jittery anxiety wore off, it was MARVELOUS to not feel like I had to check my phone every three seconds. Digital detox. I need to do that more often.]
Well, it has actually come to pass: I finally joined the ranks of Alberta real estate professionals and have been on-boarding steadily ever since.
Between modules dealing with anti-money-laundering and figuring out an awful lot of new software, we’ve also been getting ready for filming in The Ghost (Wilderness Area). That’s where I’m tapping this out on my phone, though I don’t know when my connection will be strong enough to post).
As the advance party, we headed to the planned camp area to set up the tents and provide somewhere for the cast and crew/support team to aim for. We were then going to do a little climbing before hitting our sleeping bags. Tomorrow, we’ll head back out toward the highway and our rendezvous point with the rest of the team tomorrow.
All was going well until the ‘chance of showers’ developed into a series of wild thunderstorms and a deluge. Thunder. Lightning. Rain. Tent-shaking wind.
Wound up taking cover in those sleeping bags hours ahead of schedule.
Skies have cleared now (more or less) so I’ll see if I can catch an Internet Beam and fire this post from my spot on the ridge high above the Ghost River over to your in-box.
Hoping tomorrow will be a drier day :)
Follow-up: After the rendezvous with cast and crew on Friday morning, there was nary a moment to sit and craft anything else newsletter-esque. It was all hands on deck from the time we got up until we all collapsed into our respective tents. I’ll share a bit more about the process of shooting footage for this new project with Andy Arts, but not tonight - I’m still hungover (not from any nefarious substances, but from lack of sleep, lots of fresh air, and all the activities that consumed us during the four days we spent out of touch). And I still have a couple more pesky modules to tick off before bed :)
I think I missed what _The Ghost_ is--so maybe I have to scroll back. And your journal looks so *you* -- except of course for the hurt thumb but you're right about extra dimensions. Have been missing you. xo ~Mary
Love the frame within the story within the frame (but not loving the injured thumb -- hope it heals up). Okay, did you become a real estate broker lately? Are there three of you?! inspired by your digital detox. I'm trying it while in the backwoods, but with plentiful wifi... Stay cool.
