Two birds, purple flowers, and splotchorama

Hi Nikki,

I'll be heading out to Heather's dance recital this afternoon, so I got busy this morning with pen and ink, watercolours, and watercolour brushes, drawing and painting some things from my friend Joan's extraordinary garden. She picked some flowers for me, and I put them in a green glass vase she also gave me (years ago). I used pen and ink and a splash of watercolour, trying to keep it simple. I took a photo of a large wooden bird she has in her garden and made a couple of attempts to capture its charm. I used watercolour brushes for the colour.

I also took some photos of the blooms on her tree peony. Huge white flowers, with yellow and deep purple centers. Tomorrow's project, maybe.

I hope you have had a few calm moments today, but I suspect not, it being Sunday and all.

Hi Sarah -

Alas, weekends are always particularly busy and today was no exception.

Hence - squiggles - and, a lot of colour.

But it was fun and relaxing and felt good to end the day with this … drawing? It isn’t really a drawing. Splotchorama.

How as the recital?
