Dear Sarah - Day 273 of our daily drawing exchange
Hi Sarah!
My goodness, what a day. I will let the drawings speak as we are trying to get to bed in advance of an early morning start tomorrow and an expedition to the port of Ostia Antica. We are unsure of how difficult travel will be due to the ongoing protests here.
And, yes, we had breakfast, but we were a bit rushed, so the drawing is rudimentary…
I picked up an inspiring book of very simple line drawings - observations of the people of Rome - and that, in part, inspired the single line drawings of the various savoury pastries we shared in the room this evening.
That’s it! Sorry so rushed and so short on details. Overstimulation is the word of the day. The time taken to draw, even when hurrying, provide tiny oases of calm. One cannot draw when running.
Nikki
Hi Nikki,
I heard about the protests in Rome and wondered if they were affecting your plans. I see that you are still finding yummy things to eat. I really like the line drawings of your Sicilian picnic in the hotel. Very evocative.
I took a break from, well, just about everything, today. So I am posting a flower painting I did yesterday, trying to capture the very last of the dahlias I grew on my deck. Not a Dutch masterpiece, but that wasn’t my goal!
