Hi Nikki,
Good session today--will try my best to fit in some more writing time this week.
Today's drawing is from the course--using a single line to draw city skylines using all the shapes we've been practicing. My big challenge, as you can see, is trying to draw the skylines in a straight line, but it was still a useful exercise.
That's all for now. More tomorrow.

Hello there!
Yes, that was very satisfying today - it feels as though we are now working through some final pieces before having that first draft done. When I went back to some of the early stuff, looking for gaps to fill, inconsistencies to smooth out, there were sections where a) I couldn’t tell which one of us had done what and b) was relieved to see they were readable. I’m quite excited about this next stage as we knock things into shape suitable for some beta readers to provide some feedback.
As for drawing- I am taking a page from your squiggly city book and taking it to my backyard…
Squiggly mountain ranges!
Highlight of today was a short break during which I meandered over to the small park behind our city hall and took part in an ice cream social. Oh, actually, I nearly forgot - while there, I painted a tiny mountain scene on a little flat stone. The rock is about the width of two quarters and the image is loosely inspired by a free book I picked up at from the table hosted by the public library.
Here’s the cover of the book:
In a strange twist, for a short time in the early 70s our family lived in the Harmon Residence, a local landmark of sorts located on Tunnel Mountain on the way up to the Banff Centre.
So, a bit of a weird time-travellish, fun break in an otherwise very busy day.
Until tomorrow -
Nikki
That's amazing! And your mountain ranges are lovely!
