Shelving issues and the return of the Greek church
Dear Sarah--Day 320 of our daily drawing exchange
Hi Nikki,
I wanted to see if I could figure out how to draw the stuff on the bottom shelf of my cabinet without it looking as if it was all standing on end. I think I got the jugs and plates and bowl okay, but the oval serving dish eluded me until I tried drawing it as a detail. It’s better but not perfect—obviously the whole foreshortening thing takes a lot of practice! Then I drew a couple of my kitchen shelves using the ink brush pen to see if I could capture their depth. Totally different kind of drawing—no erasing, very loose.
Hi Sarah -
Man, I admire your stick-with-it-ness. And, it’s so interesting how the different tools result in such different outcomes - both cool.
I had grand plans to do four smaller Greek Island-inspired panels on a page, but wound up getting very busy today and so did not get past panel #1. I really loved the church-on-the-hill we visited on our last full day on Kalymnos. It’s the same one I used as the background to the floating fish from yesterday.
I suspect the next week or so is going to be overflowing with stuff - work and fun. Dani is coming for a working visit (arriving Wednesday, same day I’m heading to the city to get snow tires put on the car), but when we aren’t working, we’ll be doing fun stuff. Fortunately, she is the type of person who may just pick up a pencil herself when I am working on the daily drawings…
Starving hungry atm, so off I go to find some food.
Talk soon!
Nikki
