Hi Nikki,
February 18, 2025
If there's an advantage to being sick (but not too sick) it's that you feel less guilty if you do something that is just for pleasure. I managed to attend my Zoom yoga class this morning, talk to a client, do as much work as I could manage, and then it was time to draw.
I followed a flower doodle on IG, then drew the same flower a few more times without looking at the video . Some in ink, some in pencil. I happen to have two pots of primulas on my windowsill right now, in honor of my mother, whose birthday it is tomorrow. She loved primulas (which I also love) and African violets (Ugh. Fuzzy leaves), and I think she'd be proud of my efforts today.
I wish I had coloured pencils, because the primula flowers are stunning. I've attached a photo for your enjoyment. Perhaps coloured pencils should be my next art purchase. And some watercolour paper, since I have some of Kianna's watercolour pencils, and ... and...
Time for a Nana nap now. Hope your day has not been too insane.
When I wake up, I'll start reading The Thriller in readiness for Thursday.
Dear Sarah -

No surprise, but it has been another busy day. It did include more reading and thinking about The Thriller (we should come up with a better working title - discuss on Thursday?), business (Realtor tour on Tuesday), and Wings night at the Mine Shaft Tavern. Then, I managed to get a very overdue wrap-up newsletter wrapped up… AND worked on my drawing from yesterday a bit more…
It’s still not quite done, but I have to say, it has been fun to work on this between phonecalls and emails…
Your flowers are great! Love the various approaches… and, yes - I can see how those colours in the photo are calling to you. I agree - some watercolour pencils are in your future :)
