Back in 2017 when my father (then in his 80s and already frail), my daughter, and I blithely set off to walk a chunk of the Camino in Spain, we were by far the slowest team en route.
Each day we managed to cover 3-5 kilometers, a feat that could take us eight hours. Just try walking that slowly while carrying a big pack! The ordeal was stressful enough I’ve allocated a whole chapter to it in the graphic novel and I’ve started working on ideas for how to convey that sense of standing still while the flow of humanity strolled past us.
