THANK YOU to those who suggested maps, my mountain backdrop here at home, and me at my desk/table considering my next journeys for this final image in the poem sequence… I can’t tell you how cool it is to be getting input as we march along together through the no-longer-empty pages of my sketchbooks :) At any time, feel free to comment here at the bottom of the posts, on Facebook, or as a direct reply to the email newsletters (depending on how you are reading this).
That combination of images works (I think) for the final stanza of the walking/Camino poem (which now needs a title). Suggestions? (I have to say you are all proving to be most helpful when it comes to keeping the forward momentum of this project!)
The trickiest part of this collage was finding something that would work for the shirt material. In my stash of origami paper, I discovered some weird mesh paper (I don’t know how else to describe it) which was perfect because I could see through it to trace the shape of the shirt and the arm that needs to come in front of the map. Cool stuff, though - no idea where else it may appear again in the future, but good to know it exists in my stack-o-paper (there were multiple sheets in different colours).
Well, glad to be done with that section and on to the next. Over the next couple of weeks, I’m thinking I may be posting more drawing practice/exercises and perhaps a couple more reviews of current graphic novel reading/research. I’m getting ready for a short trip so I’ll be away for a week (leaving in a week) and I’m not sure how that’s going to impact the steady flow of progress on this project. My thinking is, even in an airport waiting area or chillaxing by a pool, I should be able to scratch out a few stick figures or draw a drink with an umbrella?
