No more wasps, flower variations, and a bleary-eyed self portrait
Dear Sarah - Day 199 of our daily drawing exchange
July 18, 2025
Hi Nikki,
Hope you're home from Calgary--or wherever you spent your busy day. I ran errands, caught up on freelance business (emails, contracts etc), bought groceries and had tea with a friend.
Christian's birthday is tomorrow and I want to get him some wrap-around cycling glasses, but he'll need to figure out what works for him (the swelling has almost disappeared, thanks to Benadryl and a corticosteroid). So I made him a card, which is attached. Then I caught up on yesterday's painting class--basic flower strokes (so-so results--I need some smaller brushes) and moved on to today's class: watercolour wash with pen drawing on top. Much better results.

It was cooler today, but it still took a while before my apartment cooled down. Lovely breeze and sunshine right now. Heading for the couch with a bowl of cherries and a book.
XO S
Hi Sarah -
I concur - I like the watercolour wash with the addition of pen - very much like the birthday card!
Put some serious miles on the car today - a feat I will meet or exceed tomorrow. Today we checked out places in Cochrane, Airdrie and the northwestern reaches of Calgary. Tomorrow we’ll start in the opposite corner (deep SE), then take a look at Okotoks before circling back around to hit a few spots on the west side of the city. With clients from out of town, we need to cram a lot into a few days…
The result is a lot of logistics at the end of a long day leaving me feeling a bit cross-eyed and somewhat bedraggled.
Off I go to bed to recharge and do it all again tomorrow!
Until then -
Nikki
