Magnolia in colour and bearded face at the end of a long day...
Dear Sarah - Day 97 of our daily drawing exchange
April 7, 2025
Dear Nikki,
I really like the reflecting pool you drew yesterday--I know you weren't pleased with it, but I found it quite evocative and mysterious. I played with watercolour a bit today, seeing what my watercolour pens would make of the budding magnolia. The colour isn't true to life, and I am still experimenting with mixing colours with the pens. More tomorrow.
Spent quite a bit of time dealing with my car insurance company re: a smashed passenger-side mirror, after my son informed me that you can get ticketed for driving with a smashed mirror. The ticket would probably be as much as my insurance deductible. Fortunately, the person I talked to was super helpful and the whole process was painless.
I also had a brief visit with my Alberta brother and his wife, which was also painless!
Perhaps you will meet them in the summer, since they are planning on being in Canmore while I am there.
XO S
Dear Sarah -
It was the last night of class for the semester so the focus today (after driving back from the city and then meeting a client here late this afternoon) was on getting the reading done for the others in our workshop group. Phew! What a wild, inspiring, wonderful, exhausting course! Dani and I have a couple of weeks in which to finish up our final assignment, but we are well on our way to having that in reasonable shape…
All that to say, this evening’s effort is late arriving here and was done while I was on a phonecall with Dani after class. No reference - just sketchily sketching to get something on paper.
Glad your day was (in the balance) painless :) Really like what’s going on with your watercolour pens! Looking forward to seeing more…
Until tomorrow -
Nikki
