Hi Sarah -
I finally figured out a more efficient way to create the weekly wrap-up newsletter and have prepared and scheduled several (to more or less bring us up to date) over the next few days. By this time next week, the backlog of daily posts should have been neatly compiled and sent out to readers…
What struck me as I was quickly scrolling through the recent posts, cutting and pasting links was just how busy we have been! What a wide range of subjects, materials, styles, and approaches! Also in evidence is the march of time as our drawings reflect the change of seasons and the changes in where our focus falls.
It’s kind of cool to see how the work accumulates (very much in the way a novel slowly emerges from our regular writing stints). Proof positive that we don’t need to cut ties with all the other things we are busy doing in order to carve out a bit of time each day to chip away at big projects. It sometimes feels like we have stalled out and aren’t making much progress, but the ever-growing word count (All She Wrote) and the stacks of drawings would indicate otherwise…
I have a meeting to go to this evening, but hoping to get my drawing for today done before that - looking forward to seeing what you share today.
Cheers,
Nikki
(Note: I did not have time to draw before and drew during my meeting…)

Dear Nikki,
After a day of wrangling with internet providers, auto body shops, and the timeline from hell (I don't even remember why we thought that having the emails in a separate doc would be a good idea)…
I got out my brush pens and some real brushes and stared at the full-bloom magnolia again. I quite like how this one turned out.
Time for food now. Then perhaps I'll finish watching Sing Sing, a very good movie that I fell asleep watching last week. Not a comment on the movie at all. It's excellent--about a drama program in Sing Sing penitentiary.
