Dear Sarah,

Though this is not a literal representation of my office, when I started drawing boxes, it does evoke a similar feeling to that which I experience when I step inside the chaos and clutter that is my work world.
I would like to have a stretch of time in which to go through the stacks of paper, files, old bills, drafts, etc. etc. that accumulate despite my best intentions to get on top of the volume of stuff I seem to produce.
Alas, there is no time to have another go at this drawing and actually think about perspective or anything technical - I will have to let this stand as today's effort.

I decided to stick with trying to draw buildings and am happier with today's drawing than yesterday's. A very tall building became a church for some reason (bell tower?). So I guess the other buildings are the manse and attached garage! Maybe later I will try to draw the same scene but in pen, not worrying so much about all the angles and whether they are "correct." I really admire the loose, sketchy quality of your drawings (and people like Quentin Blake and Jules Feiffer), but I find it difficult to let go and let the hand and pen do their own thing.
Tomorrow I'm on Nana-duty all day, so I may not have a drawing until later in the day. There's a possibility that I will do some drawing with Kai, but then again we may spend the day doing puzzles, reading, going to the park and the library and heading over to his favourite cafe for hot chocolate with whipped cream. One never knows. Oh yes, and playing checkers and chess. He offered to teach me how to play chess, which he plays quite well. Maybe I'll draw some chess pieces!!! Or him!
