Laundry and seven soup bowls
Dear Sarah - Day 307of our daily drawing exchange
Hi Sarah -
well, I managed to get the last few pages done in the Rome draft. Now need to go back through it all and edit - but at least the bones are there (today’s upload is from one of the pages toward the very end).
Busy day visiting (lovely dinner at A’s with her BF, aunt, and uncle) and now back at our friend’s place more than ready to fall into bed. Tomorrow we’ll be up early and heading to the National War Memorial for the Remembrance Day ceremonies.
Sorry so short - flagging!
Cheers,
Nikki
Hi Nikki,
Congrats on the first draft! Love the laundry post—especially the colours. I remember my dad’s prints hanging up in his darkroom like laundry. and the smell of the chemicals. And the dreaded red light! God forbid you should open the door. Now that I think about it, I realize that he had a darkroom in every house we lived in, and he spent hours and hours in there, alone in the dark.
I have some ailment that mostly manifests as extreme fatigue, a sensation of weakness and loss of appetite. Very odd and not very pleasant. Even walking a few blocks to the grocery store felt like a marathon and required a nap afterwards. I did muster up the strength to put pen to paper and drew my dinner while the soup cooled. I had to draw seven bowls before I did one that I liked. A lot of them looked like upside down headwear. The drawings got smaller and smaller. The glass of water was much easier to capture, but the avocado toast with hard-boiled egg eluded me. It all tasted good, though. First meal of the day.
Feels strange not to have to think 9 hours ahead to figure out what time it is wherever you are. When do you head home?
XO S

What a poignant photo, Nikki. Sarah, I hope you're soon feeling better; that must be frustrating.
