I spy a re-do
Dear Sarah/Dear Nikki - Day 545 of our daily art adventure
Hi Sarah -
well, today’s plan seemed like a good plan and would have been, except the gondola malfunctioned as we were getting ready to board… The estimated two-hour delay to fix whatever the problem was put us too far behind schedule, so we are trying again tomorrow. F. took A. and J. cragging while I caught up on some client work and prepped for a late afternoon meeting. Found a few minutes to work on this:
Mostly an experiment with layering and colour… but also may include a fish-adjacent shape hiding in the weeds.
That’s it for now!
Nikki
p.s. We have an informal poll underway - is it gon-DOH-la or GON-do-la?
Hi Nikki,
I’m Team GON-do-la, but I have no idea which is correct. Love your colour and texture experiment.
I did a free watercolour course yesterday and realized a few things: 1) I don’t like following along (ie.doing what I’m told) 2. If I do follow along, the results are usually uninteresting 3. My painting skills have actually improved since we started doing this exchange 4. If I don’t like something I make, I can change it, cut it up for collage or try again in a different medium.
I dutifully followed the instructions to paint a window frame with ivy on the top and a bush below. Boring. Cut up or change up? I grabbed my Neocolor crayons and started scribbling, adding flowers and a blue wash background. Much better. Might still cut it up but it felt good to mess with it.
Have fun tomorrow.
XO S
