Dear Nikki,

Home now, haven't had dinner yet. Here's a drawing of a burger, which was today's assignment. I am learning quite a bit from the course, and I would never think of drawing a burger (I don't even eat them) but it turns out to be an interesting thing to draw. At the bottom of the page is a blind contour drawing of the burger, which looks like when all the meat slides out of the bun.

That burger looks delicious!

And, interesting we are both working in pen today.

This was vaguely inspired by an urban sketcher on YouTube - I say vaguely because I completely messed up what was supposed to be happening (all the heads at the same height - i.e. the horizon line, but the people different sizes based on how close they are to the viewer… ) So I tried to adjust by making the dudes climbing up the hill towards… a blob, that I kind of turned into a phoenix (or something vaguely wing-ed).

The scribbles to the right could be a tree - perhaps on fire (which might explain the phoenix).

I will revisit this subject and see if I can arrive at the page with a better plan. There wasn’t much of a plan - or, at least, the plan that should have been there was abandoned when I began to draw the second and third heads way off the horizon line…
