Hi Nikki -
I drew inspiration from your foot drawing and took a photo of one of my feet resting on a patterned footstool. I was tired after spending a few hours in my son's garden, and put my feet up for a few minutes before drawing.
My arthritic right hand is sore now, but it felt so good to pull out grass and dandelions and all manner of other weeds. I hate to tell you that it actually got warm enough that Kai took off his shirt. And put it back on when I told him to go find the sunscreen.
It's so heartening to see the poppy I planted before Covid is still alive and thriving, as are some Japanese anemones that a friend gave me from her garden.
Drawing a foot is an interesting exercise; at first I wasn't going to add the pattern on the footstool, but I liked the shapes surrounding the foot.
Time to go and make dinner: roasted red pepper, spinach and goat cheese pizza. Yum.
XO S
Hi Sarah!
Well, this didn’t quite turn out perfectly, but kind of a cool effect (hole in page) if I had been a bit more precise with my line angles… Thanks, YouTube, for making me really bend my brain around what’s going on here. I very much like the concept (love trompe l’oeil when it’s done well - like, say, in street art…) but don’t think I can ever come up with a design on my own (head, hand and eyes all hurt too much from the effort).
I’m glad you included the fabric design under your foot - definitely adds a summery feel, though I’m not happy that I have had to pull my winter boots back out while you are frolicking barefoot in the garden and counting flowers!!
I had an apple and cheese for a late snack tonight (and a bagel hours ago for supper) as I had no appetite for going back out after a long evening of school work. Here in the city one more night and then heading back to the mountains and home.
Until then -
Nikki
