Hi Nikki,
I'll be away from home this afternoon and overnight--not home until tomorrow afternoon--so I got my drawing(s) done early.

The good one is the second iteration of the bronze goose sculpture--I really like it, and may even draw it from another angle. Such satisfying shapes! The artist is a woman named Georgia Gerber.
Today's drawing lesson was, oddly enough, another goose, which ended up looking more like a wooden decoy or even a turkey. Ugh.

Hello Sarah!
I hope you are having a fun overnight expedition somewhere. I can see why you like the shapes and lines of the goose sculpture - I would love to see it IRL when I’m next on the island.
Fabio is heading off to work the G7 Summit for the next few days, so we stole a couple of hours and went for a climb. On the way back we stopped at the McGillivray Vault - a strange remnant from the Cold War.
Cut into the cliff face is a long tunnel (one of two) that was hollowed out of the north-side of Mount McGillivray. Intended to protect important documents in the event of a nuclear war, the vault was never completed or pressed into service. It’s pitch dark in there and when Fabio walked out ahead of me he was silhouetted against the tunnel/vault opening.
If you want to go see it, it’s an easy hike and a weird reminder of the anxiety we lived with back in those days.
Until tomorrow-
Nikki
