Ferry fun and a western meadowlark
Dear Nikki/Dear Sarah--Day 450 of our daily art adventures
Hi Nikki,
Gorgeous day here today—perfect for a trip over to Mill Bay. Did a couple of tiny sketches near the ferry terminal, then sat outside on the ferry. Family brunch tomorrow.

Hi Sarah -
I have fond memories of visiting the Seahorses Café - glad you had a good mini getaway.
This afternoon, while showing a house, we stepped out onto the deck and were surrounded by birds chirping and singing, summoning spring. It was relatively warm and sunny, so even though there’s still snow everywhere, the seasons are a’changing.
That’s probably why this photo of a western meadowlark called out to me from the pages of a magazine. (Stencils, water-soluble crayons, handmade paper by Chris N, string from a package, windows from my fun stuff from Amazon, and a random photo of a bird plucked from a magazine found in the free pile at the Thrift Store.) Note the attempt at precision cutting with an exacto knife - the bird toes were tricky, and I didn’t get them 100%, but I gave it more of a shot than my usual crude ripping and tearing.
Want to know what a western meadowlark sounds like? Here you go…
To warmer days ahead…
Nikki
