False parasol and the final mugs
Dear Sarah/DearNikki - Day 394 of our daily drawing exchange
Hi Sarah-
I won’t be upset if you dub today, Mystery Object Day. I’ll tell you what this is not -
Donuts
Bagels
Flying saucers
Fried Eggs
These are supposed to be false parasols, a type of extremely toxic mushroom that grows in Haiti. They may grow elsewhere as well, but I’m reading a Haitian novel, so…
I think my first error in judgement was using a blue fountain pen to rough in the shapes and then running into trouble when I started playing with watercolours.
See you tomorrow!
Nikki
Hi Nikki,
They do kind of look like everything bagels. I looked up “false parasol” and found that they do indeed look like bagels (from a certain angle). But woe betide anyone who eats them! They grow in North America (but not in the west, apparently) and often appear as fairy rings. Bad fairies.
Went out to Sidney today to meet a client and work on her book with her. I had hoped to see Dani, but there was no time—session was 3.5 hours. Productive, but tiring.
Painted some more mugs—the last two in the series.
See you in the morning.
XO S
