Fake plants and more Xmas lights
Dear Sarah - Day 327 of our daily drawing exchange
Hi Sarah -
I’m not sure how this happened, but I showed up 20 minutes early for my dentist appointment (unusual, usually I’m rushing in at the last minute, hot and sweaty) only to discover I was an hour and 20 minutes ahead of schedule.
This meant I had more time than expected to sit and stare at the fake plant beside me. I had my iPad in my backpack, so I took advantage of the unexpected sitting time to first do these four quick drawings and then read more of my murder mystery set on a cycling tour in the south of France. It felt like a bonus micro holiday!
I hope your neighbour managed to sort out her phone problems…
Cheers,
Nikki
Hi Nikki,
I loved the little pine marten yesterday. You captured his/her little face quite beautifully. And the fake ficus exercise was lovely too. As always, the blind contour drawing has a lot of life to it!
Today I painted a second Christmas card, since I am seeing two friends tomorrow and I want to give them their cards. This one was a lot easier than the one yesterday—not so much faffing around with colours, and highlights. No drop shadows. I have zero calligraphy skills, nor am I interested in learning, so my lettering is always a bit wonky! At least my friends will know that a human made their Christmas card.
Tomorrow is going to be a long busy day, so I have already done another painting for tomorrow’s post, in case I’m too tired (or blurry from the eye treatment) when I get home.
I haven’t heard from my neighbour, but Telus did text me to say that someone was coming between 5 and 7, so I hope it’s sorted.
XO S
