Hi Nikki,
Today was mostly a work day, with a walk in the morning (not a drawalk, sadly) and a break for lunch and drawing. I'm hoping not to have to bring work with me to Canmore, so I'm working ahead.
Today I doodled some flowers and then drew and painted some flowers I picked on my deck: cosmos, coreopsis and gaillardia.
Now it's time to make dinner and then I'm going to Littleneck, and see how R & A are doing, now that C has disappeared.
Heather's dance show was great--I'd forgotten what it's like to sit in an audience who are there to support someone who is dancing. My daughter danced for years and I have been to many, many dance recitals. This was a bit different in that I didn't have to make any costumes! And there were no small children dancing. My grandchildren were there, of course, and very excited to see their mom dance. Heather dances at a school for adult dancers of all ages, body types and abilities. I think the oldest dancer is about 80. And there was one quite elderly man. Really nice to see such inclusivity. Says a lot about the director/teachers.
Hope your day has been good. However you define that.
XO S
Hi Sarah -
Oh, the dance recital sounds wonderful! When I was very young (before I realized that my legs were absolutely not going to grow to an appropriate length), I wanted to be a ballerina.
When you mentioned dance, that reminded me that I had done a couple of dance-memory-inspired things in sketchbooks from days gone by…
This evening, I decided to stand up to do something with paint a bit larger than I usually do (I tend to work in small sketchbooks that I can jam into a bag). The process felt like I was back in kindergarten - and, the result wouldn’t be out of place in a room full of kids with brushes, easels, and paints.
I changed my mind seventeen different times as I went, but had a LOT of fun making a mess.
Here’s to jubilant mess-making and dancers of all ages!
Cheers,
Nikki
