Hi Nikki,
I hope I have redeemed myself by doing my drawing earlier in the day! Having recently written about Rose and her sort-of-pet crow, Corry, I drew the large crow feather I found yesterday with three types of charcoal, which makes it much easier to, well, feather, the lines. Charcoal is so forgiving (although messy).
One thing I know so far in this year of daily drawings is that I like drawing from life far more than drawing from a photograph or following a tutorial, although both of those are useful for expanding my skill set. Staring at that crow feather propped up on my windowsill felt much more satisfying than drawing the owl from a tutorial a couple of days ago. I feel much more engaged by an object right in front of me. And I think it shows in the drawing.
Lunchtime now, then a walk in the sunshine, then picking up kids.

Hello!
Well, I had all the best intentions in the world of getting to this earlier, but then - it was date day and we went out for dinner with a friend (who was a bit late in arriving because she was trapped in her underground parkade behind a broken door…), which meant late getting home… and, and.
Anyway. My quick little ‘I’ll do an imaginary creature’ idea went sideways quickly.

Note to self: use better paper when slopping water all over the place to avoid going right through in a gash and onto the next page…
Now, though - to bed!
Until tomorrow,
Nikki
