Hi Nikki,
March 5, 2025
After the fun I had with the charcoal ladle, I decided to try drawing the fishboat scene with charcoal. It was so satisfying--seeing the way I could "blur" the water and the trees with charcoal and the chamois. Reflections in the water? No problem! Charcoal is so forgiving--line in the wrong place? Wipe it away and try again. I like this drawing so much better.
Really looking forward to seeing you on Zoom tomorrow and then meeting Dani in Sidney later in the day. I had a lot of fun getting to the place where Rose has an unexpected visitor! Who can it be?
The sun is shining and it's school pickup day. Moer drawing with Kianna! Yay!

Hi Sarah!
Ooooohhhh…. need to read about the stranger showing up at Rose’s place! Don’t they say there are only two stories? A stranger comes to town… or, someone goes on a journey.
As for drawing… well, I couldn’t put my hands on charcoal per se, but did find some new-to-me (more of Dad’s art supplies) chalk pastels I’ve never had a chance to use. I thought they might be suitably soft, but they turned out to be frustrating and messy.
I am getting to know my right hand in new ways, even if I’m not drawing it very well.
The good news is, I’m becoming somewhat obsessed with studying my hands. They are truly remarkable - all the ways they bend, pinch, flap, grip, wave, clench…
Looking forward to our writing session tomorrow -
See you then!
Nikki
