Butterfly wings

Dear Nikki/Dear Sarah--Day 432 of our daily drawing exchange

Hi Nikki,

I’m very excited that we’ll actually get to spend some time together this week.

I follow @thejealouscurator on Instagram (I see you do too). Today’s post was some stunning close up photos (by @sagaoptics) of moth and butterfly wings. I decided to make a little painting of one of the photos. Watercolour, crayons, and pencil. Not as beautiful as the real thing, but not horrible, either.

Hi Sarah -

I’ve made it as far as Kamloops, where I’ve stopped for the night. I need to get an early start tomorrow to have a hope of making it to the island at a reasonable hour. If possible, I don’t want to miss my night class…

As a result, doodles to the rescue for me!

Note the cool palette and complete absence of orange. Note, too, the happy coincidence that the doodles sort of match the pencil bag.

That’s it! Highway 5 sounds like it was a bit of a mess today, so I’m hoping the roads are clear tomorrow so I don’t need to take the longer route via the Fraser Canyon.

One way or the other, should be on a ferry by the end of the day tomorrow.
