At the doctor's office and a messy process
Dear Nikki/Dear Sarah--Day 507 of our daily art show
Hi Nikki,
I meant to do another begonia drawing but time ran away with me, so I did a quick sketch in the doctor’s office (didn’t have time to finish the boxes of gloves) and then practiced some more lines. Tomorrow will be another busy day—to Saanich in the morning for veggies and Nana-ing in the afternoon. It’s supposed to be really warm, so we will be going to the local water park, where I will sit in the shade and enjoy watching kids get wet. Will bring my sketch book, for sure.
XO S
Hi Sarah -
today was a lot of fun - (or, should I say, has been fun so far - we aren’t finished yet - Dani and I are still polishing our presentation for tomorrow morning’s panel).
We were in a workshop that looked at mapping literature (using some pretty fun software) and then another that talked about zines, zine culture, and collaborative zine-making. Each participant had to make a double-page spread, which will be bound together with all the other pages to create a collaborative zine on the theme of messy process (which is the theme of the conference).
We were provided with all the fun ingredients - magazines, pre-cut-out words, scissors, glue, drawing implements, papers of various kinds and then let loose. We didn’t have much time, so we worked fast.
This is mine. What was most interesting to me was even though each piece was completely different to the next, they all sort of go together… I can’t wait to see the finished, bound outcome.
After all that, we headed for the grad students lounge for food, drinks, featured readers, an open mic, and a raucous round of trivia (our team lost, but had a great deal of fun).
K - back to work we go - Dani and I have some timing to tighten up.
Nikki
