Yes, April is Poetry Month and that also means Writers on Fire (my online writing community at writersonfire.net) will be taking part in a daily poetry prompt challenge. Robert Lee Brewer (from Writer’s Digest) hosts a PAD (Poem-a-Day) challenge each April and we’ll take his prompts (and sometimes build on them) to see where our poetic impulses might take us.
I mention this here to prepare you that it’s possible I may combine work on the graphic novel/comics project with some poetry, perhaps doing more along the lines of the Camino series of collage/poetry pages (link to a sample below).
I suspect that time will determine just how elaborate (or not) the combination of projects may be, but being someone who really does thrive with a deadline looming, something will emerge by the end of next month.
I’ll be travelling back to the Rockies tomorrow and should be able to make use of Delta’s in-air wi-fi to do some drawing and create a post somewhere between here and there. If not - see you when I’m back at home!
I love Poetry Month, and I’m so excited about the idea of you combining poetry and comics! There was a class called Comics Poetry through the School of Visual Arts that I’d wanted to take a while ago, but I was in another class at the time. Well, here’s another chance!
